ALL WORK ON THIS SITE IS COPYRIGHT DENA LAZARENKO 2016
Dena has been working as a professional fine artist since 2005. Beginning in classical realism portraiture in both pencil and oils. Dena works freehand, and in the last few years redirected her skills while learning the art of tattooing. While she often uses the human skull and skeleton in her work, she finds the association with death secondary to it being a beautiful and core part of the human body. Often Juxtapozing what may be deemed ugly by society, with overtly beautiful items such as florals and various ornaments. While she has spent the last few years honing her body art skills, like many others, our ever changing world with Covid has brought on deep reflection. Hopeful to focus on a new series, Dena is once again drawn back to her artistic roots- the paints and pencils with which originally called to her.
